The graduate school admissions process requires adequate time and commitment to choose potential schools and complete application materials and personal statements. Consult with academic advisors and mentors in your field, and call on us for assistance and information.

Career Services offers a variety of informational resources and feedback on your curriculum vitae (CV), and personal statement drafts. We can practice interviewing during our mock graduate school interviews. Call us for an appointment to complete one. You can practice a graduate school interview and you can email your video to Career Services and to any individual for their comments. You will need a computer with a web cam to do so. Contact careers@wilkes.edu for an appointment to use ours, if needed.

Peterson's Guide for Graduate & Professional Schools

This five-volume set lists and describes graduate programs for all areas of study and gives information on each school's acceptance rates, costs, assistantships, faculty research, and class composition. General graduate school information, according to program and location, is available on Peterson's website.

  • Kaplan offers a number of resources: practice tests, quiz banks, practice packs and test prep courses for a variety of entrance exams.
  • Princeton Review offers test prep courses and a free sample test.
  • Gradsource offers articles on planning for grad school and a search tool with more than 1000 schools by name and geographic location.
  • GRE prep books published by Princeton Review are available to purchase.
  • Varsity Tutors lets you test your knowledge, improve your scores and leverage their free testing system.

The AHPAT is often necessary for studying such diverse fields as art therapy, chiropractic, physical therapy, social work and speech pathology, among others. Check with the institutions to which you plan to apply for specific guidelines and requirements.

Veterinary Admission Tests (VCAT) Students interested in attending veterinary school should check with their prospective institutions for test requirements. The VCAT is not always a prerequisite. Some schools prefer the GRE or MCAT.

The Foreign Service Written Exam is the first step toward a career in diplomacy. The exam measures a candidate's knowledge and understanding of a range of subjects determined by a job analysis to be important to perform the tasks required of a Foreign Service officer.

Internet-based Testing (iBT): The new TOEFL test will be delivered via the Internet. Internet-based testing (iBT) allows ETS to capture speech and score responses in a standardized and fair manner. It will also make it possible to greatly expand test center access.
