Why did you decide to be a Career and Peer Ambassador?

I became a Career and Peer Ambassador because it is important to utilize the time we are in college to figure out our careers. As a college student, I think building our career now is integral in relieving the stress of unemployment after graduation. The Center of Career Development and Internships permitted me to construct a concise and strategic plan for networking and gaining exposure in my future career, before beginning my career.

What is the best thing about being a Career and Peer Ambassador?

The best thing about being a Career and Peer Ambassador is being educated on the significance of career competencies like professionalism, critical thinking, global intercultural fluency, etc. As well as, properly completing self-assessments to acknowledge my strengths and weaknesses in my career development. Also, the amazing team I work with at the Center of Career Development and Internships makes career planning a rigorous yet enjoyable experience.

What do you do for fun?

In my free time, I love to cook for my family. Two of my favorite dishes to make are creamy jerk chicken pasta and honey-glazed salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Another hobby of mine is shopping. I am a firm believer in retail therapy.

Favorite Wilkes memory?

My favorite Wilkes memory is organizing a chocolate bar fundraiser for the PA Vent Camp with my first-year foundations group. The PA Vent Camp is a nonprofit organization that helps disabled children and adults, who depend on mechanical ventilation, experience a fun summer without limitations. We raised about $250 from the fundraiser and all proceeds went to the PA Vent Camp.

Why did you decide to be a Career and Peer Ambassador?

I wanted to help students on campus start their careers off right and get them into the mindset of life after school earlier than I did.

What is the best thing about being a Career and Peer Ambassador?

I love being able to give students (especially first and second years) the opportunities that my cohort year didn't get due to COVID-19. I also love being an extra set of helping hands for students on campus who are intimidated and scared for life after school. Helping other students is amazing especially when you are using your own experiences (past and present!).

What do you do for fun?

I love cross-stitching, re-watching my comfort shows (New Girl, The Office, Criminal Minds) and movies and just hanging out with my friends. My idea of fun is really just being surrounded by people that I can relax with and be myself around.
