The College of Business and Engineering Research Symposium highlights oral and poster presentations of research projects by students.

The goals from highlighting student research are to:

  • Recognize, encourage, and promote student research
  • Connect student research to findings and applications in their chosen career field
  • Encourage students to consider careers in research and education

Student presentations are opportunities for students to present what they have learned through their research to a larger audience in a professional setting.

Our faculty believe a variety of skills are needed to be good mentors capable of empowering future leaders through the learning experiences. Therefore, the COBE supports annual teaching symposiums that:

  • Build community and conversation around best practices in the classroom
  • Promote innovation and collaboration in teaching
  • Highlight research and practices contributing to student learning

Student Research Presentations

The student research session is to provide students opportunities to share their research ideas, gain feedback, and improve their research skills. Students can choose one of the two tracks to attend or present at: oral presentation and poster presentation.

All presentation submissions must be entered via the presentation form by April 12 to be considered.

Participants will be evaluated based on their presentation. Gifts and certificate awards will be given to the top presentations in each category.

Oral Presentation

Papers representing completed research and dealing with substantive, methodological, or theoretical business and/or engineering research issues are invited as oral presentation.

Participants will be expected to deliver a 15-minute presentation with a 5-minute Q&A session at the symposium.

Oral presentation submissions will need to submit:

  • An extended abstract with a minimum of 600 words (excluding reference and appendix)

  • Prepare a physical poster to bring to the symposium.

Presenters will be provided with a 36” (vertical) x 48” (Horizontal) poster board. Posters should be constructed so that it presents the desired information in a self-explanatory manner.

  • Poster title and author information should be positioned at the top-center of the poster. Font size for the title should be at least 70 points and author information should be at least 30 points.
  • Organize poster materials using headings, such as “Introduction,” “The Research Question,” “The Methodology,” and “Findings.” These headings will help establish a logical flow to the poster.
