Commuting to Campus

Because we're in the center of Wilkes-Barre, about half of our students live off-campus. Although we are big on independence, we urge commuter students to become part of Wilkes community life.

In addition to our wide range of activities we support the Commuter Council, which is made up of representatives elected from among commuting students. The council works closely with the Student Affairs Cabinet, the Inter-Residence Hall Council, the Off-Campus Council, and Student Government. Commuter Council administers parking, educational, and social activities.

The Off-Campus Council, made up of students who live in nearby apartments, sponsors the Wilkes Block Party, an enormous spring festival with games, food vendors and rock bands.

Whether you take up with a commuter organization, or opt for something else, the important thing is to connect.
