Multiple scholarship opportunities exist for international undergraduate students studying at Wilkes.

#YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship

You are Welcome

The #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship was developed as a result of U.S. higher education institutions’ commitment to providing a welcoming, safe and diverse environment to international students. Wilkes is proud to support this initiative by offering two annual, renewable scholarships for up to four years of study. The scholarships are open to first-year international students admitted for undergraduate degree-seeking study at Wilkes University. Successful applicants will be dedicated to furthering the #YouAreWelcomeHere message by bridging intercultural divides.

Apply for the #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship

To qualify for the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship, a student must...

  • Be a first-year international applicant in any field of study/major to a participating college or university.
  • Hold citizenship in a country outside the U.S. and who does not also possess U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Demonstrate interest and initiative in promoting intercultural learning and exchange.
  • Meet the admission criteria and adhere to the application deadlines.
  • Complete the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship application.
  • Submit a 500-1000 word essay or a two to five minute video answering the following prompt:
    • Tell us about your leadership skills in your school or community, and how you plan to continue applying your leadership skills at the U.S. institution you are applying to.
  • Jan. 1, 2022 - Colleges and universities should confirm their participation in the academic year 2022 - 2023 scholarship campaign with NAFSA by submitting the sign-up form

  • Institution Deadlines (typically in Spring or Summer 2022) - Students should complete a #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship application for each selected institution by the institutions’ deadline, including either an essay or multimedia submission explaining how they will apply their leadership skills in the campus community.   

  • Aug. 1, 2022 - Colleges and universities should notify NAFSA of their institution’s scholarship recipients by submitting this form. More information will be sent directly to participating institutions. Please contact us with any questions. 

Merit Scholarships

International student merit scholarships are based on previous academic performance. Scholarships are awarded at the time of admission decision after all required materials has beenreceived.

  • Freshman Scholarships | $14,000 – $21,000 per year for up to four years of undergraduate study
  • Transfer Scholarships | $10,000 – $18,000 per year for undergraduate studies
  • Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship | $2,000
    • Awarded to transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, in addition to the transfer scholarship listed above. Proof of PTK membership must be submitted with admission application
  • Jay Sidhu Scholarship | $1,000 – $5,000 additional scholarship money
    • Must be a citizen of India
    • Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Must enroll as a first-year student at Wilkes and reside on-campus
    • Must be the first time studying in the USA on an F-1 visa
  • Canada Provincial Scholarship | $1,000 – $5,000 additional scholarship money
    • Must be a citizen of Canada
    • Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Must enroll as a first-year student at Wilkes and reside on-campus
  • Global Colonel Award | $1,000 – $5,000 additional scholarship money
    • Must be studying in an US high school on an F-1 Visa
    • Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Must enroll as a first-year student at Wilkes and reside on-campus

Undergraduate Tuition

Direct costs are the expenses charged to students by Wilkes University. These are estimated numbers pending approval from the Board of Trustees.

Indirect costs are estimated expenses that students may incur each year. These costs are included in the cost of attendance for planning purposes but are not billed to students by Wilkes University.
