The Wilkes University Assessment Committee (UAC) will guide each new administrative unit to set measurable goals (objectives) to assess unit performance. The UAC will also encourage these units to assess those goals, and to use the assessment findings to improve the operation and performance of their units.
New Unit Assessment Policy
This policy was developed to ensure that each new administrative unit at Wilkes University develops measurable goals for effective operation, and that those goals are assessed in a regular, systematic, and useful manner.
In the first year of new unit operation, the IR office, on behalf of the UAC, will contact the director/unit head to share UAC reporting expectations, and to discuss the need to create measurable core objectives. The IR Office will provide guidance for the unit’s development of measurable objectives and assessment strategies in preparation for the unit’s first full review. The first administrative unit full review will be expected following two full years of operation.
Administrative directors are encouraged to adjust a unit’s core objectives when needed to ensure they are measurable and remain relevant.

Review Types
Full Review
A Full Review (FR) is conducted by administrative units every three years. As the name implies, the full review is more in-depth in its reporting expectations than is the annual update.
Annual Update
Annual Update (AU) reviews are conducted by administrative units the years between full reviews. The purpose of each annual update is to provide a report on progress between full reviews.
