Health care Information for International Students

Health Care

Basic health care needs are provided free-of-charge...

at the University. Nurses are on duty during the day and evening and the University physician holds office hours two days each week. In addition, a doctor is on call 24 hours a day for emergency situations.

The cost of health care in the United States is very high.

You should be prepared to purchase health insurance when you arrive. (Approximately US$38 per month.) Care provided by the University is not sufficient in the case of a serious illness or injury. (For example, treatment, in a hospital, for a broken arm can cost US$2,000.)

The University will not be financially responsible for students who do not have insurance. Insurance may be purchased through the International Student Advisor's Office and will be billed directly to students.
