This teaching and research lab offers advanced technology, including a reel-to-reel-electrophoretic system, (which deposits Ionic nanoparticles from solutions onto conductors), an electrostatic powder coating unit (in storage), freeze drying units and an ultrasonic dispersion unit. Specifically, lab instruction teaches students: 

  1. The deposition of electrically charged Ionic nanoparticles-materials suspended in liquid carriers to conducting charged surfaces followed by annealing furnace to cure the coatings
  2. Electrophoretic deposition advantages for nanothin film dielectric layer coating
  3. Principles of Ionic suspension in electrophoretic deposition

 Introduction to Manufacturing (ME 215), Senior Projects II (ME 392) and Biomedical Devices (ME 442), a graduate course, utilize this facility.
