Student Working At Geology Field Camp In The RainStudents should plan to bring the items listed below. 

The weather in Newfoundland can be rainy, so bring extra rain gear, very good waterproof hiking boots and rain boots.  Plan to dress in layers.




  • Sleeping bag (for 20 ̊F or lower)
  • Pillow
  • Single or double sheet set for camping cabins (You can choose to use your sleeping bag instead.)
  • Air mattress
  • Tent (Wilkes University can provide this if you need it)
  • Ground tarp (Wilkes University can provide this if you need it)
  • Waterproof hiking boots
  • Rain boots
  • Two sets of rain gear (coat and pants)
  • Seven pairs of wool socks
  • Four or five pairs of field pants
  • Eight T-shirts
  • Two sweatshirts
  • Eight pairs of underwear
  • Gloves
  • Medium-weight windbreaker
  • One or two pairs of shorts
