Murals at Wilkes

Murals turn blank walls into landmarks! A striking piece of art can become a meeting spot, a photo backdrop, or even a symbol of our identity. They make the campus feel more alive and more "ours."

Paige Edwards ‘24, local artist, alum of the DDMA program and graphic design specialist at Wilkes has designed and executed several murals on our campus, and more are on the way!

Spring 2026: Henry's Dining Hall

Inspired by fresh produce and its rainbow of colors, Edwards designed a vibrant new look for the entrance of the dining hall on the third floor of the Henry Student Center.

Like a walk through the farmer’s market, the mural features a mix of fruits and vegetables including a watermelon, orange, tomato, artichoke, pepper, grapes and bananas. It reflects the dining hall’s commitment to great-tasting foods, plant-forward options and sustainable practices.

While students were on spring break, Edwards put her paintbrush to work to create this backdrop in the spot where campus gathers to fuel up with good food.

Summer 2025: 240 S. River Street

Paige and her manager, Ashleigh Crispell ’15, created a buzz on campus this summer! The duo took their creativity to great heights while painting the newest mural, located off the South Campus Gateway behind the Henry Student Center.

Designed by Edwards, the mural, featuring a bold representation of the spirit of Wilkes and Pennsylvania's rich biodiversity, symbolizes growth in education and community. The bees allude to Wilkes-Barre's industrious background and the community being busy as a beehive, while the flowers reflect campus in bloom during the spring and summer

Summer 2024: Campus North

Paige designed this inaugural mural to celebrate the beauty of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the possibilities of street art.

In what seems at first glance like an abstract design, it pays homage to Northeastern Pennsylvania with the pink mountain laurel plumes (the Pennsylvania state flower), flowing blues reminiscent of the Susquehanna River and the vibrant bursts of color that best show the spirit of Wilkes.

This mural helps solidify how there is connection in everything we see, if only we stop to notice the details.
