Biography
Dr. Olenak is an alumna of
the Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy. Following graduation, Dr. Olenak completed a community pharmacy practice residency with Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2004, she joined the faculty at Wilkes University and is currently an associate professor.
She has a clinical practice site at
the Medicine Shoppe pharmacy in Dallas, PA. At that site, Dr. Olenak provides patient-care programs such as medication therapy management, diabetes education, immunizations, smoking cessation, hypertension clinics, and wellness screenings. Dr. Olenak holds certifications for immunizations, diabetes care, and smoking cessation.
Her scholarship interests include
Immunizations, bloodborne pathogen OSHA compliance for pharmacies, use of over the counter medications and community based health programs (with a focus on diabetes and cardiovascular programs). She currently serves as a trainer for the American Pharmacists Association Pharmacy Based Immunization Delivery certification program. Dr. Olenak is the current author of two chapters: Musculoskeletal Injuries and Disorders in the Handbook of Nonprescription Drugs and Connective Tissue Disorders in Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs.
Dr. Olenak has been the award recipient
of the Most Valuable Person for Patient Services in 2006 by the Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania, the Distinguished Young Pharmacist in 2008 by the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association, and the Professional Leadership & Advocacy Award in 2010 by the Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition.
