Wilkes University Civic Band Presents Band Music from Around the World, Vol. 2 April 27

The Wilkes University Civic Band will present Band Music from Around the World, Vol. 2 on Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m. in the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center.

Featured performers include Sienna Tabron, a junior at Wyoming Seminary, who will play a transcription of Ernesto LeCuona’s Malaguena on piano and the Wilkes Conservatory Indian Dance Ensemble, directed by Sujata Mulloth, dancing to Kevin Mixon’s Natya, an Indian dance-drama.

Also featured are two ensembles by the Wilkes University Civic Band: Wilkes Brass performing Grainger’s Duke of Marlboro Fanfare and Wilkes Chamber Winds playing the first movement of Mozart’s Gran Partita. In addition, the band will play Arabesque by Samuel Hazo, Variants On A Mediaeval Tune by Norman DelloJoio, George Washington Bridge by William Schuman and March of the Belgian Paratroopers by Pierre Leemans. Philip G. Simon, Wilkes associate professor of performing arts, will conduct.

The concert is free and open to the public.
