Wilkes Pharmacy ACA VolunteersStudents from Wilkes University’s Nesbitt School of Pharmacy and The Commonwealth Medical College, in cooperation with the Advocacy Alliance, will offer an outreach session to assist community members to learn about and sign up for the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”). The session will be held on March 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wilkes University.

The event will be in the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy, located on the first floor of Stark Learning Center. Community members may park behind the Student Union Building at 84 W. South Street. After March 31, the next open enrollment period for Marketplace HealthCare is November 15, 2014 through January 15, 2015.  If you do not have HealthCare after March 31, you may be assessed a penalty of $95, or 1 percent of your income, whichever is higher, for the 2014 tax year.

Attendees should bring their Social Security numbers or document information for immigrants with satisfactory status; employer and income information for everyone in the family; and federal tax information. Attendees may wish to determine their eligibility for tax credits towards HealthCare Plan premiums in the Marketplace and sign up for an insurance plan that day, or just gather information.

It is the third session that Wilkes pharmacy students have held to assist community members with signing up for the Affordable Care Act. Earlier in March, the students assisted with two sessions held at the Volunteers In Medicine clinic.
