Three Wilkes University environmental programs will be among the exhibitors at the Northeast Pennsylvania Energy Solutions Expo on June 13-14 at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds in Dallas. Exhibitors from the university include the environmental engineering and earth sciences department, the Wilkes University Center for Environmental Quality, and the Wilkes University Institute for the Environment. The Pocono Northeast Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council and its partners are hosting the expo.
The event features exhibitors, displays, and educational/training sessions. Visitors to the Wilkes displays will have an opportunity to learn more about the schools academic offerings and research related to the environment and energy. In addition to the displays from Wilkes, exhibitors will include professional engineers, geothermal contractors, solar and wind vendors and installers, certified energy audit professionals, business and homeowner financing options, and local/grassroots community action groups. More than 20 hours of educational sessions will be offered covering topics such as conservation, energy audits, photovoltaic, geothermal, regional / residential wind turbines, biomass heating systems and farm energy audits. Continuing Education credits are available to those attending through Wilkes University. A Kids Conservation Center with activities for children 12 and under also will be featured.
The Pocono Northeast Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council is a 501©3 non-profit organization that has been active within northeast Pennsylvania since 1973. The Council has collaborated with Endless Mountains RC&D, to develop this regional educational/outreach opportunity. This event targets 16 counties in Northeast Pennsylvania , including Bradford, Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.
