Free Summer Class Offered for Accelerated Bachelor of Business Adminstration Program

Working adults can get a head start on a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Wilkes University by registering for a free, four-credit summer class. The Wilkes Accelerated Bachelor of Business Administration program, offered with a concentration in financial services operations, is offering this special opportunity for adults who may be interested in joining the fall cohort for the accelerated degree program offered by the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business & Leadership.
 
The free summer class, “Survey of Financial Services Operations” will be offered at the university’s Wilkes-Barre campus.  The deadline to apply for the free class is June 29. Adults can learn more about the free class and the accelerated degree program at an open house on June 10 from 6-8 p.m. Wilkes University, Miller Conference Room, Second Floor, Henry Student Center. Students unable to attend the open house can get more information is available by contacting Erin Drew at 570-408-4253 or visit www.wilkes.edu/abba.
 
Funded by a generous grant from the Wall Street West Initiative, the class “Survey of Financial Services Operations” is offered tuition-free to qualified students on one evening per week in July and August. The course will explore the wide range of career opportunities available in the financial services industry. Students completing the course who are interested in furthering their studies may apply for cohorts of the accelerated Business Administration program that start in September 2009. Half-price tuition is being offered for the first two classes being offered in Fall 2009.
 
The Accelerated Bachelor of Business Administration program has been formulated for working adults, tapping their practical career experience, teaching real-world business skills that can be immediately applied and expanding their career opportunities. Participants take one class per seven-week cycle. Classes are scheduled on the same night of the week for each cycle for ease of scheduling for adult students. Small class sizes and intensive online interaction with instructors and fellow students offer a supportive environment. The program is designed to be completed in two and a half years.
 
To be eligible for free class and the Accelerated Bachelor of Business Administration degree, applicants must be at least 25 years old, have a high school diploma or GED certificate and have completed a minimum of 30 hours of undergraduate coursework at an accredited institution of higher education.
