Founded in 1933, Wilkes University is a private, co-ed, comprehensive institution.

The university is located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Wilkes-Barre is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania, on the

western edge of the Pocono Mountains Region. It is the county seat of Luzerne County and has a population of about 50,000 people.

Our campus encompasses thirty-three acres and includes

eight academic buildings, 20 residence halls, nine administrative buildings, the Eugene S. Farley Library, the Henry Student Center, Annette Evans Alumni and Faculty House, Sordoni Art Gallery, Burns Alumni Bell Tower and Carillon, Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts, President's Home, Arnaud C. Marts Sports and Conference Center (with the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Gymnasium), Ralston Field Athletic Sports Complex, Munson Fieldhouse, and the Allan P. Kirby Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.

Academically, our calendar includes two fifteen-week semesters, with

optional sessions held during the summer and winter (January) breaks. Our Master's in Creative Writing program follows a different calendar.

we are NCAA Division III in men's and women's intercollegiate sports. We are also a member of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC).

Individual admissions decisions are based upon secondary-school or

preparatory-school record, class rank, and results of the SAT/ACT examination. Interviews are not required but are highly recommended.
