June 30 to Aug. 3, 2020

Departure from Wilkes University is Tuesday, June 30th at 7:30 am. The return date is August 3rd, 2020 by approximately 7 pm. Students flying into Wilkes-Barre, PA from abroad are required to arrive by afternoon the day before. Sleeping accomodations will be available for the evening prior to our departure.

Credit Value

  • Four undergraduate credit hours (GEO 380)
  • Five undergraduate credit hours (GEO 398) 
  • Six undergraduate credit hours (GEO 398)                    

Total Cost

  • Four undergraduate hours = $4,800
  • Five undergraduate hours = $5,340 
  • Six undergraduate hours = $5,880

Note: Students enrolling for 4, 5 or 6 credit hours will complete the same amount of work. Students will only need to pay for the amount of credits that are required for their degree program.

The above cost includes tuition, fees, lodging, food and travel expenses to and from Newfoundland, Canada from Wilkes University. Students should carry additional spending money for days off and other personal spending habits, as well as meals for break/exploration days. The above costs do not include the cost to obtain a passport or international phone plans/add-ons.

The Wilkes University field camp only accepts a limited number of students so that each student has more access to resources and faculty. As such, spots are very limited and competitive. Upon receipt of your complete application and requisite documents, we will make a decision on your application within 7 days. If your application is approved, you will have 2 weeks from the date of the acceptance email to submit a non-refundable $500 deposit to secure your spot. If the deposit is not received, your spot will be forfeited to the next student. The remainder of the balance is due by June 15th, 2019.

Scholarships


The National Association of Geoscience Teachers, Association of Engineering Geologists (AEG) Foundation, GSA/ExxonMobil Field Camp Scholar Award, American Institute of Professional Geologist (AIPG), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the Association of Environmental Engineering Geologist offer scholarships that can be applied for expenses associated with geology field camps.
