Thanks for Making the Bloodmobile Blood Drive a Success

The first blood drive using the BloodMobile was a HUGE success and it would not have been possible without you!

The Civic Engagement Office and Passan nursing students and faculty thank you for your support. We know that several of you had to be turned away. We have scheduled another bloodmobile to make sure you are able to make your donation.


As COVID-19 containment efforts continue nationwide, please note that American Red Cross blood drives are essential and directly support other emergency services remaining open to sustain our fight against coronavirus and those most vulnerable to it, patients with chronic illness or disease.

The American Red Cross needs to collect every unit we can. And YOU can make a difference. All presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free haircut from Sports Clips. In addition, all successful donors will be screened for the COVID-19 antibody. The test may indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to this coronavirus, regardless of whether they developed symptoms.

It’s important to remember that blood is perishable and cannot be stockpiled. 

We understand public health concerns, but want to stress that donating blood is a safe process. Red Cross blood drives have the highest safety standards.

Here are just a few of our safety measures:

  • Checking temperatures of staff and donors before entering drive 

  • Spacing beds six feet apart where possible

  • Having hand sanitizer available at all times

  • Using aseptic scrubs on arms

  • Wiping down donor-touched areas

Please give blood from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Red Cross BloodMobile on campus.
