National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Is Oct. 24
This Saturday, Oct. 24, has been designated National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and
public health issue with regard to the misuse of controlled prescription drugs.
Last semester, a Safe Medical Disposal box was installed in the lobby of the Wilkes University Police Department headquarters. This disposal box may be accessed 24/7. Community members may dispose of prescription and over-the-counter solid medications, prescription and OTC tablets and capsules, and pet medicines. Personal information should be removed or marked out prior to disposal.
Reducing drug accessibility is a key component in our efforts to address serious issues related to the health and well-being of our campus community. National studies show young people are now more likely to abuse a prescription drug than an illegal street drug. Getting unused or expired medications out of your residence is a great first step in protecting yourself and your family.
