Get Swabbed and Be the Match

The Civic Engagement Office and Nursing Student Organization (NSO) are asking you to j
oin our TEAM-WilkesSaves because YOU could be the MATCH for someone desperate for a transplant.

Though only 1 in 430 donors are selected, YOU can be the match. Wilkes University has had three successful matches and one completed donation! That's HUGE. Donors of color are especially critical. Please consider joining our team.

What is Be the Match? Be The Match offers the public an opportunity to get involved by joining the Be The Match Registry, donating umbilical cord blood, contributing financially or volunteering time. After registering, you will get a cheek-swab kit in the mail and then send it back!

How can I help? Everyone has the power to help by joining the registry ONLINE. The link is now OPEN. Check your mail for your swab kit. Swab your cheek and potentially SAVE A LIFE for someone diagnosed with a blood disorder like leukemia.

To receive community service hours, please join the Be the Match Q&A Zoom call at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, and, more importantly, REGISTER.

Donating marrow can give someone a future  a chance to overcome leukemia or other life-threatening diseases. Thousands of people of all ages in need of a transplant won’t make it without the help of others.

We look forward to seeing you on Zoom and, of course, welcoming you to the world’s largest bone marrow registry!
