Celebrate the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

Friday, Jan. 17 | 6 p.m. | Luzerne County Courthouse 

This dynamic program will feature:

  • Wilkes-Barre Mayor George Brown;
  • President of the NAACP Wilkes-Barre branch Ron Felton with a speech from Dr. King;
  • Constance Wynn with historical perspective;  and
  • Gloria Nervana of Pastor Patrice’s Powell’s Salvation Christian Center with songs of inspiration. 

Saturday, Jan. 18 | 11 a.m. | NEPA Women’s March at the millennium Circle Wilkes-Barre Riverfront 

Hosted by NEPA NOW, Action Together and Queer NEPA. Confirmed speakers are:

  • Helen Davis, Associate Professor of English at Wilkes University;
  • Shari Jacobson, Moms Demand Action;
  • Jessica Rothchild, Scranton City Council member;
  • Marilyn Calderon, teacher and community advocate; and
  • Michaela Spaid, Queer NEPA. 

Monday, Jan. 20 | 11 a.m. | King's College 

A program honoring Dr. King will be held on the third floor of the Sheehy-Famer Campus Center.

Thursday, Jan. 23 | 11 a.m. Wilkes University, UCOM 126 and 127

This program, "A Call for National Unity," will feature a keynote speech by Dr. Leon John Jr., Director of Alumni Engagement at East Stroudsburg University.
