Cameras and Microphones Available for Faculty Use

IT Services has 60 cameras and 20 lapel microphones for faculty to use this semester.

These devices can be requested by emailing Matthew Koch (matthew.koch@wilkes.edu). Each faculty member who sends a request will be contacted by OTTL regarding their individual instructional needs. All devices will be checked out through the Library circulation desk. You will be contacted once your technology is ready for pickup.

Cameras: The cameras are meant to help facilitate HyFlex learning or classes where some students have indicated they will not attend in person, but the rest of the class will still meet face-to-face. Cameras will be issued individually to each faculty member who requests one. They are small HD webcams with a 50-inch collapsible tripod and a 15-foot extension cable. They connect via USB to any computer and can be transported between classrooms.

Microphones: Microphones are available to amplify classroom audio through the classroom’s speaker system for masked faculty. They require a receiver installed in a particular classroom, so the lapel piece may be issued to an individual faculty member or a department. Each classroom will be on a separate channel that will be posted in the room. Faculty can use the same lapel microphone in multiple rooms that have receivers by changing the channel.

NOTE: Some of our smaller campus classrooms do not have A/V systems or have older A/V systems that are not compatible with the microphones. We will work to move faculty who need them to rooms where they are available.

Please make your requests as soon as possible so we can assign the technology and take care of any technical concerns. Training will be provided to faculty through videos and in-person demonstrations as required. ITS staff will also be available to help troubleshoot setup issues when classes begin.
