Accounting Changes to Begin June 1

We would like to inform you of upcoming changes in the University’s Finance Office. Beginning Monday, June 1, we will implement a new Chart of Accounts. We will transition from Chart W (the current accounting system) to Chart X (the new accounting system).

The purpose of this change is to enhance our financial reporting capabilities by restructuring the Chart of Accounts to be more efficient. We understand that this is a difficult time for so many in our Wilkes community, and want to assure you that we will be available to answer any questions that you may have during this transition.

This change will result in new FOAPALs (Fund-Organization-Account-Program-Activity-Location) for each division and department. Beginning June 1, the Finance Office will no longer accept purchase requisitions, check requests, cash receipt transmittals, PCARD coding or transfer requests with Chart W FOAPALs.

In the coming weeks, budget managers will receive specific information with new funds, organization and accounts. The Finance Office staff will be available to answer questions about the changes and assist budget managers and administrative assistants with coding changes.

Please direct all questions to accounting@wilkes.edu.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
