Earn Your Wellness Incentive for 2020

Still need to earn your wellness credit for next year’s health plan? The Wellness Committee has organized some more events that will count towards earning the wellness incentive. Find one that fits your needs and schedule and get your wellness credit for 2020! Don’t delay!

Wilkes Fitness Center Orientation | Interested in learning about the fitness center on campus and what is available? During this session, Keith Klahold will give you an overview of our own fitness facilities and how to use the equipment in the lower level of the Marts Center. No workout involved, just come to Marts Lower Level Room B01 to learn what we have available and how to use it.

Limited to 10 individuals per time slot. There are many time options available, so you can choose one that fits your schedule:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 27 | 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. or noon
  • Monday, Dec. 9 | 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m. or 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 11 | 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m. or 5 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 13 | 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m. or 5 p.m. 

Get a Personalized Workout Plan | Interested in having a workout designed for you because you don’t know where to start or how to put a routine together? Schedule a one-on-one meeting with Keith Klahold, our athletics conditioning coach. He will talk to you about your goals, current and desired activity levels, and any health concerns to design a workout regimen that will help you get where you want to be. Register for this option and Keith will contact you to arrange a time that fits your schedule.  

Wilkes Walks | Even though the weather outside might be getting frightful, you can still get some physical activity in. Join Wellness Committee members for a 30-minute walk around campus. Everyone is welcome! Find a walking buddy and use this kick-start your winter walking program.

Meet at the flagpoles on the Fenner quadrangle.

Dance/Cardio Class | Led by Bridget Giunta, this fun, dance-inspired workout includes cardio and stretching. No experience necessary, just wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. Attend one or both sessions. Please contact Bridget in the President's Office at Bridget.giunta@wilkes.edu or ext. 4134 with questions. This is an additional offering of the November classes. 

  • Friday, Dec. 6 | noon

Location TBD (you will be contacted with the location once confirmed).

Mindfulness/Self-Care workshop | Gene Lucas, associate professor of graduate nursing, will provide an introduction to basic mindfulness principles and how it can affect perceptions of what is going on around us. Learn mindful breathing techniques and have a chance to ask questions about incorporating mindfulness into your daily life. This is a repeat of the November workshop for those who could not previously attend. Limit 75 attendees.

  • Monday, Dec. 16 | 1:30 p.m. in the Farley Library 002 (lower level)
