Five student members of the Wilkes Civic Band have been accepted to rehearse and perform with the Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band, March 8-10, 2019.  They were selected from 156 applicants from 28 colleges and universities across the state.

The guest conductor for the 72nd Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band (the longest consecutively running intercollegiate band in the nation) is Major Michele Rakers, recently retired assistant director of the United States Marine Band (the President’s Own).

Phil Simon, Wilkes University Director of Bands, and the Wilkes Civic Band will host this year’s Intercollegiate Band Festival on the Wilkes University campus.

Our five representatives to the PA Intercollegiate Band are:

  • David Miller, clarinet
  • Leah Persing, oboe
  • Lauren McClintock, clarinet
  • Kyle Rosler, tenor saxophone
  • Hunter Bowman, string bass
Please join me in congratulating them on their selection to this very special musical ensemble.
