Attend an LGBTQ Awareness/Safe Space Session
All Wilkes staff are encouraged to attend an LGBTQ Awareness/Safe Space session with
Associate Professor Helen Davis from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, in UCOM 126. In the first two hours of the session, Davis will cover basic LGBTQ
terminology, information on gender-inclusive language and practices, and best practices
at colleges and universities to make campuses safe and inclusive for LGBTQ students,
faculty and staff.
The session will be interactive and will include scenarios and suggestions that you can directly apply in your interactions with students, faculty and staff. The last hour will cover resources and more detailed information for those who would like to be part of our Safe Space Ally program. You can attend the first two hours only or all three hours.
You must attend all three hours if you want to be part of the Safe Space program. Those who complete the Ally program will get a sign for their office space.
If you would like to attend, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Lunch will be provided! If you need any dietary accommodation, please let Erica Acosta know.
Thank you for working to make our campus safe and inclusive for all of our students, staff, and faculty.
