Pitt Challenge:healthcare hackathon.
My name is Colin Pfeiffer and I am a third year pharmacy student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. I am one of the board members of the Pitt Challenge, which is a premier healthcare-focused hackathon. On behalf of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy we are pleased to invite students from Wilkes University to the 3rd Annual Pitt Challenge Hackathon, on Friday October 11th - Saturday October 12th 2019. The goal of the Pitt Challenge is to bring together universities, students, startups, and innovation leaders of all backgrounds. We as a hackathon committee are looking for students not only interested in computer science and engineering, but also in solving some of the greatest health-related challenges that face us today. Pittsburgh has a rich history of healthcare with the successes of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and is a growing technology hub, thanks to universities such as Pitt and Carnegie Mellon.
After our inaugural event in February 2017, the Pitt Challenge has led to tremendous advancements for Pittsburgh Innovation. BehAIvior, a competitor in the first Pitt Challenge, is now a Carnegie Mellon University supported startup competing in IBM Watson’s Xprize. The third place winner, MediCase, had continued success in winning the Randall Family Big Idea Competition in Pittsburgh, and has since developed a fully functional prototype and has filed for provisional patents.
We invite you to help lead the next generation of healthcare innovation in Pittsburgh. This is an opportunity to make great relationships with faculty and peers, along with getting recognition for your contributions to the advancement of healthcare.
