ASHP Travel Support/Grants

ASHP Travel Support/Grants

There are two opportunities for students to receive grant money for travel and registration to the American Society of Health System Pharmacists' (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting and residency showcase. Students are eligible to receive money from both grants. Below are descriptions of the grants, their requirements, and links to applications students must complete. Please remember to complete both grant applications as they are independent of each other.

The deadline for both applications is October 29, 2016 (11:59 PM EDT). Eligible students must submit applications for each grant for which they wish to be considered.

Student Residency Travel Grant
This grant, from the Department of Pharmacy Practice, is available to any P4 student traveling to ASHP and pursuing a residency or fellowship position. For 2017, there are 27 grants available for $325 each. In the event that there are more than 27 applicants, the grant amount per individual will be adjusted to accommodate the additional applicants.

Students approved for the grant and attending the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting must present documentation/attestation that they attended the opening student session, a recruitment forum (residency showcase, PPS, or other), at least one continuing education program, and at least one (non-Wilkes) student or resident poster during the scheduled poster presentation session. Upon returning from the meeting, students must submit receipts (registration receipt, flight receipt, hotel receipt, etc) and evidence of attendance to receive reimbursement. Forms to submit for reimbursement will be made available to grant recipients.

Mentoring Grant

The University Mentoring committee makes available funds to support students travel to professional meetings. There are two types of grants, one for those presenting research and another for students who are just attending a meeting. Although the funding is provided by the Mentoring Committee, the application and delivery of the grants is through the student chapter of ASHP. Applicants do not need to be members of ASHP to apply for this grant, though it is encouraged. Interested students can read about the grants at the mentoring web page. Please note, any given student is limited to a total of $1000 per academic year and groups traveling to a particular professional meeting are limited to $3000 (total) from the University Mentoring committee. If you've received funding up to $1000 from the mentoring committee, you are not eligible. Do not apply directly to the mentoring committee or your application will be returned.
