ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting Grant/Funding Opportunities.

ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting Grant/Funding Opportunities for P4's.

There are two opportunities for students to receive grant money for travel and registration to the American Society of Health System Pharmacists' (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting and residency showcase. Students are eligible to receive money from both grants. Below the description of the grants are links to applications students must complete.

The deadline for both applications is October 26, 2015. Eligible students must submit applications for each grant for which they wish to be considered.

Student Residency Travel Grant

This grant, from the Department of Pharmacy Practice, is available to any P4 student traveling to ASHP and pursuing a residency or fellowship position. Grants are awarded based on the number of students applying. The total budget for the grant is $6000 and will be divided evenly among those who express interest and submit a completed application. The application process will require students to submit a well-constructed short essay addressing how they will use their time at the ASHP meeting to develop professionally in addition to meeting with prospective residency programs.

After all applications are received, students will likely receive $200 to $300. This amount may change based on the number of grant applicants. Approved students must submit receipts to be reimbursed (registration receipt, flight receipt, hotel receipt, etc) after returning from the meeting.

Mentoring Grant

The University Mentoring committee makes available funds to support students travel to professional meetings. There are two types of grants, one for those presenting research and another for students who are just attending a meeting. Although the funding is provided by the Mentoring Committee, the application and delivery of the grants is through the student chapter of ASHP. Although encouraged, applicants do not need to be members of ASHP to apply for this grant. Interested students can read about the grants at the mentoring web page (http://www.wilkes.edu/about-wilkes/university-committees/mentoring-committee/funding-requests.aspx). Please, note that any given student is limited to a total of $1000 per academic year. If you've received funding up to this amount from the mentoring committee, you are not eligible. Do not apply directly to the mentoring committee or your application will be returned.
