P4 Pharmacy Students Ashley Graham and Chris Carey awarded 1st place recognition for quality improvement project

Congratulations to P4 students Ashley Graham and Chris Carey for their 1st place poster award granted at Geisinger's Current Concepts in Medication Safety Conference on March 25, 2015. The students were recognized for a quality improvement project initiated during an ambulatory care rotation in collaboration with preceptor Dr. Malinowski and registered nurse Terry Lacey from the Wright Center for Primary Care that promoted safe monitoring and use of antidepressants associated with QT prolongation. The objectives of the conference were to: 1) review the scope, complexity, and implications of medication errors that can extend well beyond our interaction with the patient, 2) discuss current concepts and evidence-based practices that exist to assist in providing error-free care to our patients, and 3) examine the human factors, organizational culture and the accountability needed to achieve ZERO medication errors. Kudos to Chris and Ashley for outstanding work!
