Wilkes University Students Tour On Semiconductor as Part of Microfabrication Lab

Ten Wilkes University electrical engineering students put their classroom experience to the test when they toured On Semiconductor in Mountain Top, Pa., on April 30. Students enrolled in assistant professor of electrical engineering, Wei Du’s, microfabrication lab course had the opportunity to broaden their vision on the current semiconductor field. The trip will continue to be offered with the course in the future.

The microfabrication lab is a unique experience that most students do not experience until the graduate level.  Wilkes undergraduate students are given fundamental microfabrication techniques as well as introduction to cutting-edge nanotechnology, serving as a competitive advantage for their future career.

Two Wilkes students also attended, giving a lecture on their experience with the company. Kaitlyn Sitch and Rob Hess were invited to give a talk to share their intern experiences at On Semiconductor. Hess discussed photolithography technology and Sitch talked about her duty on automotive design and simulation.

 On Semiconductor is a leading supplier of semiconductor-based solutions. The company's products help engineers solve design challenges in automotive, communications, computing, consumer, industrial, medical, aerospace and defense applications.
