Wilkes University’s Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership Hosts Inaugural Sidhu Research Day, Dec. 1
Undergraduate and graduate students in Wilkes University’s Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership will present their research at the inaugural Sidhu Research Day on Dec. 1. The event – a first for the Sidhu School – celebrates academic achievement and mentorship. It will take place from 3-6:30 p.m in the University Center on Main, 169 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Student presentations will follow the judges welcome at 3 p.m. and conclude at 5:30 p.m. Award presentations recognizing the winning research follows at 6 p.m.
The conference theme, “Value Chain Innovations in Digital, Social Media, and Mobile Commerce,” will feature research focusing on such topics as social media advertising, cyber security, women in entrepreneurship, and social networking addiction. The conference co-chairs are Jennifer Edmonds, associate dean and associate professor, and Anshu Arora, associate professor, in the Sidhu School. In total, 33 graduate students and 36 undergraduate students will present their findings. Students worked with faculty advisors to complete their research.
"Research and scholarship is a valuable component of business education in the Sidhu School, providing both our undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to examine in-depth important business issues, adding significant value to their Wilkes University education," said Sidhu School Dean Abel Adekola. "The research day allows them to present the results of their work in a forum of faculty, peers and business professionals."
Undergraduate and graduate students present poster presentations that summarize the research study components as well as the overall findings. The poster presentations will be judged by professionals from Georgia Institute of Technology, Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, Temple University, Bucknell University, University of Scranton, and Bloomsburg University.
