Wilkes University Integrative Media Seniors Win Gold Awards At Regional American Advertising Awards
Wilkes University seniors, Kevin Schiel, of Wyoming,Pa., and Delmis Machado, of Berwick, Pa., won Gold Award Placement in the 2016-2017 American Advertising Awards – Student Division – AAF District Two. A Gold ADDY is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is judged to be superior to all other entries in the category. Both are integrative media majors at Wilkes.
Schiel won for “Animated Infograph” in the category of television advertising. He created an animated graphic video outlining the process from start to finish of how a drug gains Food and Drug Administration approval. The two-minute video was made as an informational guide for Pfizer Inc., one of the world’s premier biopharmaceutical companies, and will most likely be featured on their website.
Machado won for “Feeling” in the category of television advertising. She shot nighttime footage mixed with drone and ground-level camera work in downtown Wilkes-Barre to make a 45-second commercial for the app YouTube Red.
The American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local AAF Club (Ad Club) competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.
