Wilkes University Civic Band Presents “Carmina Burana” on April 30

The Wilkes University Civic Band will present Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” on Sun., April 30 at 3:00 p.m. at the Kirby Center for Creative Arts at Wyoming Seminary, 260 N. Sprague Ave., Kingston.

Orff’s scenic cantata will be directed by Philip Simon, associate professor of music at Wilkes University. Simon and the Civic Band present a 14 movement truncated arrangement by John Krance. The concert includes soprano soloist Leesa Levy  and dancers from the Wilkes University dance classes under the direction of Kristin Degnan Boonin.  The performance follows Orff’s original intention for his masterwork of incorporating music, movement and vocals.

The Wilkes University Civic Band, directed by Philip Simon, is a concert band that includes Wilkes University student musicians and local adult and student musicians from the community.
