Playboy of the Western World

Wilkes University Theatre presents J.M. Synge’s Irish comedy Playboy of the Western World on Sept. 29 – Oct. 2. Performances are at 8 p.m., with a 2 p.m. curtain on Oct. 2 at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts.

Directed by associate professor and associate dean of theatre Joseph Dawson, this revival of the 1907 play features an ordinary Irish lad, Christy, becoming the village heartthrob in a most unusual way – by confessing to murder. Join the folks of County Mayo for a pint in the pub as they feel the pulse of Ireland’s pagan past lurking just below the surface of their quiet lives.

General admission is $10, $5 for students and seniors and free for all Wilkes students, faculty and staff with ID. For more information, please call the box office at 570-408-4540.
