Wilkes University Announces Gifted Letter of Endorsement Program For Teachers
Pennsylvania teachers seeking to develop their expertise in educating gifted and talented students can now enroll in Wilkes University’s online Gifted Education Letter of Endorsement Program.
Upon successful completion, candidates will be eligible to add the gifted education letter of endorsement to their existing teaching certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The 12-credit program can be completed in as little as two semesters. In addition to online coursework, 30 hours of field experiences are required, allowing students to practice and apply learned concepts. Hours can be completed at a school where students work and live.
Courses align with guidelines provided by the Council for Exceptional Children, the National Association for Gifted Children, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Credits can be applied to certain master’s degree programs and towards Act 48 requirements.
Cost for the program is $454 per credit. Classes start Sept. 12. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a Pennsylvania teaching certificate.
