Wilkes University Offers Doctor of Education Degree At Commonwealth Connections Academy In Harrisburg
Information Session Will Be Held August 1
Educators can earn a doctor of education degree from Wilkes University by taking classes at Commonwealth Connections Academy in Harrisburg beginning in January.
An information session will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, in the Commonwealth Connections Academy boardroom at 1426 North Third Street, Harrisburg. All area educators are welcome.
The 60-credit program includes a specialization in educational leadership. The program combines online learning with periodic face-to-face classes. Its cohort format allows students to complete the program with the same peer group.
Those who successfully complete 15 credits per year could complete coursework in 3 ½ years, followed by dissertation development. Students may transfer 12 credits from an accredited post-secondary institution toward the degree, providing the credits were earned post-masters and align with the curriculum in their chosen area of study.
"Our program prepares students to be leaders in education. They appreciate our highly relevant and practical course content that can be applied immediately to their careers," said Mary Kropiewnicki, program chair. "Extending the program to the Harrisburg area makes it more accessible for busy educators who want to make a difference in the field as scholarly practitioners.”
Applications are currently being accepted for the spring session, which begins in January. Applicants must have a master’s degree in education or a related field and submit a GRE test score taken within the last five years. Student can apply to the program while registering for the GRE at a nearby site. Visit www.ets.org for test locations and schedules.
Cost for the program is $581 per credit. The application deadline is Nov. 1. To register for the information session, or for more information about the degree, contact Holly Fry at (800) WILKES-U Ext. 5535 or email@example.com.
