Instructional Media (M.S. Ed.)

The master’s degree in Instructional Media is a joint effort of Wilkes University and Discovery Education. This 30-credit program prepares teachers to engage today’s students in learning through digital media. It will train you to become a specialist who can effectively blend academic rigor with the latest technology, from video to Web 2.0 to virtual field trips.

The course of study couples advanced online resources with the very best in instructional media, content and training. Nationally known educational leaders, including Kathy Schrock, shape course content.

The program consists of 21 credits of foundation and general pedagogy courses and 9 credits of electives.

Learn how to:
  • develop skills in digital media production, editing and sharing;
  • utilize emerging technologies to promote student engagement, collaboration and lifelong learning;
  • apply the concepts of globalization and creativity to the design of effective technology integration in the classroom;
  • create authentic and differentiated learning experiences in the classroom through the implementation of technology and digital resources.

Classes run in seven-week sessions with two sessions offered in each of the fall, spring and summer semesters. The program is conducted in a convenient hybrid format, blending face-to-face and online learning.
