Alumni Spotlight - Jay S. Sidhu, MBA '73

Jay S. SidhuJay S. Sidhu, MBA ’73, graduated from what was then Wilkes College, with the leadership skills and business acumen he needed to become one of the most influential financial executives in the Mid-Atlantic. Sidhu is currently Chairman and CEO of Customers Bank, a $1.9 billion asset bank with 14-branch bank headquartered in Wyomissing, PA.

So impressed with what he learned at Wilkes, Sidhu has become one of the university’s strongest leaders. Through his vision and continued support, Sidhu founded the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership in 2004. The executive education program emphasizes the type of leadership and solid business education that directly emanates from his vision of what makes a successful leader.

“Authentic Leadership is not something one is usually born with -- it needs to be taught. We need to help students become more well-rounded individuals, so that they can quickly tackle any kind of problem, in any kind of situation.”

Along with Wilkes’ continued focus on mentoring, emotional intelligence and what he calls “honest communication,” the Wilkes business program teaches a value-based approach to management education known as Authentic Leadership.

“Our vision is that it’s not just development of intellectual curiosity that matters, it’s the development of the whole individual.”

Sidhu is currently a member of the Wilkes University Board of Trustees.
