Stewart has spent the past several years in clinical practice in the Scranton, Pa.
area as an emergency department nurse manager, trauma educator and most recently,
clinical nurse specialist for the emergency department and critical care units at
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. In addition, she has held positions as adjunct faculty
for Luzerne County Community College and the University of Scranton’s graduate nursing
program. Stewart currently chairs the national Board of Certification for Emergency
Nursing, overseeing test development for specialty board certification in emergency,
flight and ground transport nursing. She is also a member of the accreditation council
for the American Board of Nursing Specialties. Stewart received her B.S.N. from Cedar
Crest College, her M.S.N. in emergency and critical care nursing from Widener University,
and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Duke University.
