Appointed Voice Instructor at Wilkes University in fall 2013, Dr. Leesa Levy holds the degrees of BS in Music Education (Mansfield University), MM in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy (The University of Texas at Austin) and DMA in vocal performance and literature (North Dakota State University). Levy served as Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Voice at Valley City State University, ND from 1999 to 2012. Prior to the position at VCSU, Dr. Levy completed over ten years of teaching K-12 vocal music in New York public schools and for the Department of Defense Dependent School System in Europe. Dr. Levy held the position of vocal pedagogue and director of vocal ensembles at the Franz Grothe Musik Schule in Weiden, Germany from 1992-1998.

Pedagogically, Levy has met with a high level of success as many of her voice students have continued music studies in professional music schools, conservatories and universities in Germany; Austria; and the USA. Many have gone on to careers as music teachers, conductors and performers in Europe and the US. In vocal competitions in Germany, and MTNA and NATS competitions in North Dakota and Pennsylvania, her students have also placed well.

As Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Voice at Valley City State University, Dr. Levy was responsible for the implemention of the vocal/choral courses at the University while maintaining a full studio of 7-14 vocalists. While at VCSU Levy was an active member of a number of faculty committees and served with distinction. While serving VCSU full time, Levy completed the DMA and performed regionally as a soprano soloist .

In Germany Levy taught voice at the Franz Grothe Schule, performed regularly as a soprano soloist with the Weiden Synfoniker and filled engagements with other orchestras throughout the region. Levy has performed in Bayreuth, Heidelberg, Freising, Salzburg, Weiden and its surrounding locale, as well as Hollywood (CA), New York, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Texas and Minnesota. Levy has studied voice and completed master classes with Eugene Jones, Darlene Wiley, Helene Schmidt, Helmut Dotzauer, David Garvey, Gerard Souzay, Walter Berry, and Robert Jones.

Levy has conducted choirs in Texas, Germany, and North Dakota. She has been guest conductor for junior and senior high school honor choirs in North Dakota and has presented sessions for choral directors through NDMEA and ND-ACDA.

Active in community music theater and opera, Levy has performed roles such as "Der Taumann" and "Der Sandmann" in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, "Rachel" in Two by Two, "Guenevere" in Camelot, and "Luisa" in The Fantasticks. She has won recognition for her acting ability and has served in various directing and technical capacities for a number of school and community theaters. She is a member of NATS and past ND State Vice-President, is a member of ACDA and served in many offices for the North Dakota chapter, including that of President.
