Mel Fouts ’23 hasn’t always considered herself a risk taker, but Wilkes gave her the confidence to become one. Moving away from her family in Missouri, taking on engineering, presenting her research nationally and feeling supported every time. With a passion for environmentalism and years of award-winning research before she even graduated, Mel was more than ready for her environmental engineering career with Pennsylvania American Water, where she put her Wilkes experience to work right away.
Environmentalist. Scientist. Engineer. Leader.

Want to start your own business?

Do it.

Have you ever seen a waffle truck? That’s exactly what Wilkes grads Billy Berry and Toon De Schepper had in mind when they masterminded their business idea. And they successfully launched (and grew!) their food truck, called All Belgium, in Wilkes-Barre with a second location in Chicago. WOW.

Unity Amidst Diversity badge
Hera Mukhtar ’23 has wanted to be in health care her whole life. She fell in love with the Wilkes campus, but the professors and the opportunities available blew her away. Now she is studying to be a primary care physician at Penn State Hershey College of Medicine, a seat she secured through the Wilkes pre-med program. During her time at Wilkes, she completed a clinical internship at Guthrie Hospital, where she conducted research four days a week. And she was also the president of Women Empowered by Science, working with middle school girls who are passionate about science. Her professors inspired her. Now she continues to inspire as many young women as she can on her way to becoming a doctor.
Want to find your people? You will.

Happiness without compromise.

You’re here to earn your degree, but you’ll have fun too. You’ll find like-minded peers living on campus to collaborate and compete with, more than 80 clubs to join and opportunities to enhance your education.

Everything students are doing. Where opportunity and experience meet support and mentorship, you have free rein to pursue what you’re passionate about.

It’s Wilkes-Barre.
Not Wilkes-Barre.

Between the Pocono Mountains and the Susquehanna River is the city of Wilkes-Barre. You can debate the pronunciation (people do), but you can’t debate the character, history or opportunity. There’s easy access to ski resorts, state parks, restaurants, movie theaters and shops. There are businesses looking for interns, alumni waiting to connect and nature waiting to be explored. It’s a growing college town that we’re helping to build.

Soccer goalie, president of Phi Beta Lambda (Future Business Leaders of America, the oldest and largest business organization) and corporate finance grad, Nick Kinzler ’23 is the ultimate student-athlete, now on his way to his MBA. He says balancing it all can be tough, but his teammates, coaches and professors help make it possible. Nick put his leadership skills to the test on and off the field by competing in national PBL conferences (where he has brought home first place), running service events like Special Olympics bowling and even interning at a law firm. He has his sights set on a career in sports finance, the perfect combination of his two passions and his two Wilkes degrees.

Danny DeVito ’20 found his passion for design in high school, where he built his own brand creating art for his football team. What started as a hobby sparked a career path, first landing a freelance gig with the Seattle Seahawks and then an internship with the Washington Nationals during his time at Wilkes. Majoring in digital design and media art, he had free rein of the student-run Studio 20 design agency and interned with the Wilkes athletic department. All while building his network. Now, he’s in Los Angeles working as a senior associate at Fox Sports.

At Wilkes, your textbooks are paid for.

Yep, you read that right.

Here your textbooks and course materials are paid for and are ready for you before the first day of class. All you have to do is return them once the semester concludes.

This is just one way that we work to make your college experience as successful and stress-free as possible. We know that you can succeed, and for decades we’ve helped students like you achieve more than they thought possible. So let us give you one less thing to worry about. And, since books can be expensive, one less thing to pay for, too. In fact, our math shows this can save you up to $1,600 per year.
