Welcome to the Office of Technology for Teaching and Learning!
The Office of Technology for Teaching and Learning (OTTL) provides support to faculty in any area related to teaching, technology, instructional design and much more. We can work with you on your face-to-face classes, online and hybrid to fully develop or just enhance your classes. We also provide professional development opportunities for faculty throughout the year and can do one-on-one meetings as well, just stop by or make an appointment with any of our instructional designers. To learn more about the variety of services and support we offer, visit the About Us page.
OTTL also provides a variety of resources including links to tools, articles, and tutorials for the various systems and platforms we support. We host various events throughout the year as well as share relevant events with other organizations. Visit these various resources and event details via the links at right.
In an effort to prepare for a possible campus closure, OTTL has organized a variety of resources to inform faculty on how to transition their face-to-face courses to the online environment for a period of time. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with these resources and begin to consider how you will continue your classes in the event of a closure. We have included a page to request individual support appointments for those who need them. We will continue to add additional resources and updates to the site as needed based on requests.
Upcoming Workshop - Deep Dive: Rubrics
Would you like to learn how to use the Rubrics tool in LIVE to assess your students?
Please join the Office of Technology for Teaching and Learning for a D2L Deep Dive into the rubrics tool! We’ll show you how to create a rubric, add criteria and assessment levels, associate it with an assignment or discussion and use the rubric to evaluate your students.
This is the fourth in a series of D2L training events, each focusing on one tool in D2L. Each event will offer an optional badge, which is earned by attending the event and then demonstrating proficiency in the topics covered.

Additional D2L/LIVE Support
Beginning on January 27, off-hours support will be available direct from D2L End-User Support Services. D2L Support agents will assist faculty and students who need support performing various tasks within their courses when University staff are not available. Agents will be able to walk end-users through the steps necessary to solve their issue or provide a training resource. No longer will you need to wait until the next business day to get assistance when you are unsure of how to do something in D2L or something in your course seems broken. Anytime you need assistance in D2L/LIVE and the University's Help Desk is closed, you can use this service -- including overnight and weekends.
To access services beginning on January 27, log-in to D2L/LIVE and click the link for Off-Hours D2L Support located in the Helpful Resources widget on the right side of the LIVE home page. This will take you to D2L’s Find Answers Fast page where you can search for an answer to your question, view tutorials, open a live chat session, or click on the Contact Us link to submit an email request or call directly.
Please note that D2L End-User Support Services (EUSS) cannot reset passwords, so if you are having log-in issues you will still need to contact the Wilkes Help Desk during their operating hours. In addition, EUSS will only have read-only access and will not be able to perform any specific actions within our course platform; they will only provide training and instruction on how to resolve issues. Some cases may be referred back to the University for further assistance if it outside their scope of services or access.
