Sordoni Art Gallery Tour

A Different Kind of Classroom

The Sordoni Art Gallery provides many ways for visitors to experience the gallery. With a mission to encourage an appreciation of the arts within Wilkes-Barre and the surrounding community, we offer a wide variety of free educational events throughout the year. Click to learn more about our upcoming free events and programs in association with the current exhibition.

K-12 Arts Program

Our newly redeveloped K-12 Program provides organized field trips to the Sordoni Art Gallery structured around Pennsylvania’s Department of Education Standards Aligned System, offering a pre-built lesson plan that can be readily adapted to any classroom. In addition to a guided tour, our guides will lead your class in an arts workshop, allowing them to bring home their own masterpiece inspired by the exhibition. The K-12 Program lasts approximately 2 hours and can be modified to fit a class’ needs. Please contact for an educator’s Pre-visit Program Package and to schedule your class.

Tours at the Sordoni Art Gallery

Looking to bring your family, club or group to the gallery? Sign up for a free Docent Led Tour. Our docents are trained to guide groups through the gallery. A Docent Led Tour can be the perfect way to engage with the arts as Docents lead discussion about the historical significance and visual interest of a variety of artworks on display.

When making plans for your group, please note:

  • Tours must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
  • A maximum group size of 25 people (exceptions will be made for Wilkes University classes and K-12 student groups).
  • All guided tours meet in the Karambelas Lobby outside of the Sordoni Art Gallery.
  • Limited parking is available at the Gallery. Six visitors' spaces in the Karambela Media Center Lot are open to the public.
