Dr. Adams has served Wilkes University in various roles in student affairs and academic affairs since 1979. After serving as Dean of Student Affairs and University College until 1996, he was promoted to Vice President for Student Affairs in 2002.
He oversees Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation; University College (Advising Services, Career Services, Undeclared Students, Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction, Disability Support Services, ACT 101 and Upward Bound; Student Development (Cooperative Education and Internships, Student Activities and Leadership Programs, Community Service, Campus Interfaith, Orientation and E-mentoring); Student Health and Wellness Services; Residence Life; and Judicial Affairs. He co-chairs the Mentoring Committee and co-chaired the University’s decennial Self Study for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Adams received both his BA and MS degrees in Education from Wilkes. Adams holds a PhD in organizational leadership/curriculum instruction from the University of Pennsylvania.
While at Wilkes, he has been the Director of Residence Life, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Dean of Academic Support Services, Dean of Student Affairs and University College, and Interim Vice President for Development. He has been a member of the board of directors of Luzerne County Head Start and the United Way of Wyoming Valley. He presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA and the Executive Committee of the Diamond City Partnership. He is a trustee of the James Sutton Home.
