Dr. Kemmerer comes to Wilkes University from Penn State Hazleton where she taught writing and literature for ten years. In addition to her teaching duties at Penn State, she served as faculty resource coordinator, arranging faculty development opportunities. She also provided training in peer review, led a strategic planning sub-committee, and spoke frequently at meetings of the Penn State Inter-campus English division on methods of promoting academic integrity. As a faculty member in English in the humanities division, Dr. Kemmerer will teach composition, and other writing and literature classes as needed. She holds her Ph.D. in English from Fordham University, her M.A. from the University of Scranton, and her B.A. from College Misericordia. The author of numerous journal articles, conference papers, and a book entitled ‘A neutral being between the sexes’: Samuel Johnson’s Sexual Politics, Dr. Kemmerer’s fields of specialization include seventeenth- and eighteenth-century British literature, professional writing, science fiction, and poetry. In addition to her academic credentials, she has industry and consulting experience as a communications professional in technical writing and public relations.
