Biography

Jeffery P. Dennis, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Criminology, grew up in the Midwest, lived in Los Angeles for 13 years, and completed graduate study in Psychology, English, and Spanish before receiving his Ph.D. in Sociology from Stony Brook University in 2001.  He has taught at universities in Ohio, Florida, and New York.  He is interested in the intersection of crime and gender and sexual minority identities, and he has published two books and over twenty research articles on topics as diverse as hate crimes, human trafficking, juvenile delinquency, third genders, and racial stereotypes on children's television.  He will be teaching Criminology, Criminal Law, and other courses in criminology and sociology, and developing new courses in race, gender, and crime.
