Chris Leicht begins his sixth season as the head coach of the men's tennis team at Wilkes University. Chris is a 2000 graduate of Bloomsburg University, earning a degree in Business Administration. He also earned his MBA at Bloomsburg University. Leicht is also the women's tennis coach at Wilkes and serves as the Director of the University's Recreation and Athletic Center (RAC).
During his first five seasons at the helm of the Colonels, Leicht has led Wilkes to five straight berths in the conference playoffs. After falling in the semi-finals in 2003, Wilkes posted their first playoff win in school history in 2004 before falling in the title match. The 2005 team set a school-record by going 17-3 and advanced to the Middle Atlantic Conference title contest once again. In 2006 Wilkes finished with a 14-6 record and advanced to the Freedom Conference playoffs, while the 2007 squad had an 8-6 record and earned a spot in the conference playoffs. Leicht, who has guided the Colonels to a 47-20 mark during his first four seasons, was named the Freedom Conference's Co-Coach of the Year in 2004 after his squad posted an 11-3 record.
Leicht has had 13 players earn All-Freedom Conference honors during his five-year stint at Wilkes. He also coached the school's first ever Middle Atlantic Conference individual champion, Hassan Shah. Shah beat fellow teammate Madhan Srinivasan in a three-set thriller for the 2003 MAC Singles title. In 2006 Arvin Narula copped the MAC number-three singles title.
Prior to arriving at Wilkes Chris spent three seasons as the head coach at his alma mater, Danville Area High School. During his stint at Danville, Chris compiled a career record of 57-4. His teams won both the League and District IV titles in both 2001 and 2002. During both seasons Danville advanced to the state semifinals before falling by identical 3-2 scores.
