The Colonels began playing at the varsity level...
in 1958 under the direction of legendary Wilkes coach George Ralston.
Through the years the Colonels have had their share of success on the courts. The 2005 squad became the most successful in school history after posting a 17-3 dual match record and advancing to the Freedom Conference final for a second straight year. The 2004 and 2006 squads also enjoyed a great deal of success. The 2006 team fashioned a 14-6 record and earned the team's fourth consecutive post-season berth. The 2003 team finished the campaign with an overall record of 11-3 and also advanced to the playoffs.
The 2003 season proved to be a very successful one for the Wilkes netters as well. Not only did the squad earn a berth in the Middle Atlantic playoffs, but they also crowned their first individual champion when sophomore Hassan Shah topped teammate and fellow sophomore Madhan Srinivasan to claim the MAC Singles title.
In 2005, Srinivasan won an MAC individual crown at second singles, while teaming with Shah to win the number-one doubles title. One year later Arvin Narula also copped an MAC individual title when he won the number-three singles flight.
