Since Wilkes began its field hockey program in 1962 it has grown into...
one of the premier programs in the Freedom Conference. During 11 of the last 13 seasons the Lady Colonels have made their way into the post-season.
The program had great success from 1993 through 1996, winning four consecutive Freedom League titles. During that same time, the squad captured three ECAC Mid-Atlantic championships, and earned a berth in the NCAA Championships in 1995. The 1999 season saw the Lady Colonels set a new school record for wins in a season after fashioning a 14-8 mark. That team also won the school’s first Middle Atlantic Conference field hockey crown.
Individual success has also been evident in the program. Since 1979, 77 Wilkes field hockey players have garnered conference all-star honors. In addition, 19 players have been named to the College Field Hockey Coaches Association Regional All-American team in the last 13 years, with four players earning All-American honors.
